Customer is King- I found a new interpretation to this maxim!
Well, the King gives you the direction, the guidelines the storyline…….thats exactly what Tahira Merchant told us, followed by Tina Mashelkar and Raj Mittal and Isha Pandit and many more. Well, the Merchants, Mashelkars, Guptas….all are our customers! They gave us the roadmap, the path to follow, their stories!
Yes, I’ve had molasses on my toast and it tastes great but the idea of the sticky, gooey thing on my face to unclog my pores made my frown rather permanent. I have a reputation to experimenting traditional desi things on my body in the name of skin care. But molasses- oh no!
I had read there’s lactic acid in molasses and ideally it should work like curd but till I dared to try it out, all was just theory……
till……..
until Isha Pandit shared her video.
She titled it – My DIY homemade remedy for breakouts.
After watching that video, I just had to let the hang-ups go and decided to add molasses generously into my beauty routine. Today, I add some organic turmeric to Dhampur Green Blackstrap Molasses, and put it on my face like a pack, washing it in 10-15 mins with tap water. Result: You won’t believe it! I have super smooth, acne free, moist skin and my pores remain unclogged!
Thank you, Isha!
Dhampur Green Molasses is rich in potassium, copper, calcium, and magnesium, molasses also contains anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants that promote smooth, toned skin.
Raj is a different story. He’s only 24 years old, already balding and greying. Since girls his age thought he belonged to a different generation, Raj had been on the hunt, finding ways and means to grow hair and keep them from greying. The internet landed him on to Molasses- aka Sheera. Many people have used blackstrap molasses as a topical hair treatment to smooth and improve the overall appearance and texture of the hair. The super food chock full of vital minerals and vitamins-B6, potassium, iron, copper and what not- make a it a great concoction!
“I’m not a person who likes messy or gooey things,” said Raj.
“But this one works!”
So, Raj eats molasses and also uses it on his hair. He followed a recipe in a US Patent owned by Jacob Cantor and says it reversed his greying to a great extent. We’re not advocates of anyone’s patents, but sharing knowledge always helps.
He quotes Nykaa, the woman-led beauty brand, and we share-
“Every other day, eat a tablespoon of blackstrap molasses (from sugarcane juice, not from beet sugar); it’s believed to reverse the graying process.”
Thank you for sharing your story Raj.
Hearing so much good news from customers got me excited to dig deeper. Molasses for foot scrubs, Molasses for Menstrual Cramps, Molasses Hair Masks and on and on and on…….
This one I’ve tried tested personally so can share with full confidence! Molasses can take the frizziness out of your tresses — which makes sense, considering its thick texture. Mrs Merchant uses it for her frizz. Her recipe is rather simple- Dilute Molasses in warm water, keep in a spray bottle and spray into frizzy hair. Leave on for 10-15 minutes, and rinse with tap water.
Research says that the anti-aging antioxidants selenium, manganese, and zinc in blackstrap molasses work from the inside out to soften hair, reduce hair loss and graying hair. Of course, each to his own- we leave you to do your own research and find your own health mantras.
If you’re still hesitant using it on yourself, Youtube will lend plentiful support!
Simple option- eat it, cook with it, bake with it!
